Course Load

Students enrolled in summer courses in ECAS are subject to the following limits:

Maymester

Students may enroll in up to five credit hours. Those students who enroll in a Maymester course are not permitted to enroll in courses in Summer Session I (with the exception of PE courses) but may enroll in Summer Session II.

summer sessions

All students are limited to eight credits in each session -- Summer Session I and Summer Session II.

Students with a 3.5 GPA or above may petition the Office for Undergraduate Education to overload up to 10 credit hours in each session. These petitions will be considered if the student’s cumulative GPA is above a 3.5, and/or if there are extraordinary reasons for this exception.

PE courses do not count towards the eight-hour limit in the summer sessions, but are included in the 10-hour maximum for all courses.

Please consult an academic advisor if you have questions about the number of courses or credits you would like to enroll during the summer.

Cancellations

NOTE: Visiting students must notify the Summer Programs office if they no longer plan to attend.

Please Note

Summer tuition adjustment schedules are set and released by Student Accounts and Billing Office.

Course Cancellation Due to Low Enrollment

Please note that course offerings are subject to change/cancellation. Sometimes courses are canceled or sections combined due to low enrollment, or on the need of the faculty.

If a course is canceled, students will be given the opportunity to enroll in an available course. Students will be notified of course changes/cancellation at the earliest opportunity.

Withdrawals

After the add/drop period, a student may withdraw from one or more courses only with permission from Academic Advising. Please contact the Academic Advising office in Candler Library Suite 200 to request a withdrawal. Complete or partial tuition refunds are prorated according to the tuition adjustment schedule set by Student Accounts & Billing Office.

The Honor Code

For more than half a century, academic integrity has been maintained at Emory through the student-initiated and student-regulated Honor Code.

Please familiarize yourself with the Honor Code.

Every student who applies and is accepted by Emory College agrees, as a condition of attendance, to abide by the provisions of the Honor Code as long as he or she remains a student at Emory. By his or her continued attendance at Emory, a student reaffirms his or he pledge to adhere to the provisions of the Honor Code. Students who violate the Honor Code are subject to a letter grade of "F" in the course in question, suspension, dismissal, or a combination of these sanctions and/or other sanctions as appropriate.
