Academic Advising

One of our key priorities in the Office for Undergraduate Education is to ensure that our students are on track academically and to assist in situations where students have run into unexpected challenges.

OUE Advising

All Emory College students are assigned a professional academic advisor in the Office for Undergraduate Education (OUE). OUE Advisors assist students with course planning, degree progress, and navigating challenges or concerns that may occur, and can provide referrals to appropriate campus partners to aid students in resolving concerns. The OUE advisor assists students throughout their time at Emory College.

OUE Advising also offers Drop-in Advising, which will resume in August 2025.

Major Advising

When students declare a major in Emory College, they are then also assigned a faculty major advisor in their chosen field of study. Faculty major advisors assist students with course selection and degree planning for their major field requirements. They can also provide guidance to students regarding career opportunities and application to graduate or professional schools.

Career Communities

The Pathways Center supports students as they explore their future and career possibilities. Career Communities are the broad industry categories that include many occupations that have similarities of interests and/or skills. Each Career Community has dedicated Career Coaches or advisors that can meet with students starting their first semester. 

Emory College offers a dual degree program in engineering with the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a dual degree in nursing with Emory’s Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing.  Emory also offers a number of joint Bachelor’s-Master’s Degree Programs.

Career Coaching 
Career and Professional Development offers career coaching for students interested in working in accounting, finance, marketing, consulting, and more.

Each Fall, Career and Professional Development hosts the Business Networking Night. This opportunity allows students to network with Emory alumni to learn more about careers in this industry.

Career and Professional Development offers career coaching for students interested in working in becoming an Environmental Scientist, Environmental Lawyer, Environmental Consultant, Sustainability Architect, Green Building Specialist, Industrial Economist, Forester, Park Ranger, Wildlife Biologist, Environmental Educator, Scientist, Marine Biologist, Ecologist, Geographer, Environmental Administrator, Environmental Health Officer, Conservationist, Climate Change Analyst, Environmental Inspector, etc.

Pre-Health Advising integrates and enhances the undergraduate pre-health experience. We offer programs, academic advising, and resources that will help you self -assess and integrate the research, academic, clinical, service, and study-abroad experiences that you need to successfully apply to healthcare professional schools. 

For students desiring to join the BSN program at the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, students should start with Pre-Health Advisors in PHA. Learn more about BSN eligibility and pre-requisites here.
