Eligibility
Students must meet the following requirements to be eligible for our education abroad program.
- Meet the minimum GPA requirement specified by your program. The GPA requirement for each education abroad program varies. If you do not meet the GPA requirement, please contact our advisors to discuss your options.
- Remain in good academic standing while applying through the start of your program.
- Do not have any current Conduct Code sanctions or active Honor Code marks. Records are reviewed on an individual basis to determine eligibility.
- Enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree program at Emory, or another college/university for visiting students, the semester prior to the start of your program.
- Completed required college-level work; three (3) regular semesters for Semester Abroad programs and two (2) regular semesters for Summer Abroad programs.
- Completed program-specific pre-requisites, such as language background or area studies courses, for Semester Abroad programs.
- Not previously earned a bachelor's degree for Summer Abroad programs.

New Application Process
To Start a New Application...
- Search and select a program
- Click the "APPLY NOW" button on the program page to begin the application process.
- Login into the application system...
- For current Emory students, login using your Emory login and password
- For visiting students, create a new account with your email address as your username
- Once you login, select the program and term that you intend to apply for.
- Complete the application checklist based on instructions online.
- Once you begin an application, you will have the option to save the information and login at a different time to complete any materials.
Semester Abroad Applications
- Semester Abroad applications have a $75 application fee and a $300 program deposit both due during the application phase. Students with demonstrated financial need should inquire about the waiver and deferral process for these costs.
- All applicants will have a mandatory advising appointment with an education abroad advisor.
- Accepted students will be required to participate in pre-departure orientation and should anticipate additional tasks in preparation for their time abroad, which may include applying for housing abroad, acquiring a student visa, purchasing a flight, etc.
Summer Abroad Applications
- Summer Abroad applications have a $75 application fee due during the application phase. Students with demonstrated financial need should inquire about the waiver process for this cost.
- Most summer programs have rolling admissions. Some programs have a hard deadline with applicants reviewed as a group. Once a program is full, applicants will be placed on a waiting list. Late applications may be considered for those programs not yet full.
- Accepted students will need to submit a $350 deposit to secure their space on the program. Students should be prepared to submit their deposit within 1-2 weeks of your acceptance.
- Pre-Departure information and orientations will be shared with students in approximately March or April.
