Emory College Graduation and Commencement


This page is a resource for Emory College students who are graduating seniors and/or participating in the Commencement ceremonies. This is an exciting milestone and we look forward to celebrating with you!

Graduation

Graduation Requirements

Students are responsible for ensuring all graduation requirements, as listed in the Catalog, are complete by the end of their last term. Students can view their progress using Degree Tracker with these instructions. 
 
General Education Requirement (GER) questions can be directed to your OUE Academic Advisor (schedule an appointment through Navigate).  

Major and/or minor questions should be directed to the academic department (department contact list).

Graduation Process

Beginning Fall 2025, Emory College Students no longer need to apply to graduate. Graduation will be based on Expected Graduation Date in OPUS and degree requirements will be confirmed by OUE in partnership with major/minor academic departments. 
 
In preparation for graduation: 

(1) Check Degree Tracker with these instructions to ensure that your final semester’s registration is correct. Your requirements should be Complete or Complete with In-Progress courses after registering for your final semester (green checks; yellow diamonds).  

(2) Confirm that your degree type, major(s), concentration(s), and/or minor are accurate with these instructions.

(3) Designate a Diploma Name, Mailing Address, and Email with these instructions.This step is important to ensure that your diploma is printed accurately, mailed to the right address, and ensures that we have contact information to reach you after graduation if the need arises. 

Graduation Term Updates

Emory College policy states that students must complete their degree within eight regular, full-time Fall and Spring semesters (Academic Standing policy). Students may not be approved to extend their time to graduation based on late changes to their academic program.

No. Emory College students earn either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree, which is dictated by your primary major.Confirm which major is primary with these instructions.

Degrees typically show on unofficial and official transcripts a few weeks after the end of your graduation term. If proof of pending degree is needed in the interim, a Degree Verification Letter may be requested at this link.

All academic coursework for the Incomplete must be submitted by the end of the term to remain eligible for graduation. 

Please visit the Emory College Catalog for more information about Incomplete grades. 

Your graduation cannot be approved until we have your final Education Abroad transcript. However, it is difficult to predict how long it will take to receive and process a foreign transcript. Your graduation term will be moved to a later semester if your transcript is not received and processed by the University Registrar deadline. Please consult with your Education Abroad Advisor for guidance on your specific circumstances.

Maymester is a Summer semester, so students completing requirements in the Summer are not able to graduate in the Spring. Each year, the Summer semester’s graduation/degree conferral date is in August. If proof of pending degree is needed in the interim, a Degree Verification Letter may be requested at this link.

Commencement

Emory College of Arts and Sciences graduates participate in two ceremonies: Emory University Commencement and the Emory College of Arts and Sciences Diploma Ceremony. 

Beginning in March, graduates should regularly check their email for registration and ticket information, important deadlines, and day-of logistics. 

The University Commencement Website is an excellent resource for students and their guests including information about hotel accommodations, parking, and day-of amenities.

Yes, all graduates much register for both the University Ceremony and the Emory College Diploma CeremonyIn March, you will receive an email from commencement@commencement.emory.edu with instructions to log into the Commencement Registration website, Tassel 

Please complete the August & December Graduate Participation Form to provide us with your post-Emory contact information. If you do not complete this form, you will not receive communications about Commencement. 

This form ensures your name is announced correctly during the ECAS Diploma Ceremony. This form must be completed by the deadline given in order for your name to be pre-recorded and announced in alphabetical order during the ceremony. No exceptions to the deadline will be made. 

Yes, all Commencement participants must wear regalia. Items can be purchased online or in-person at the Emory Atlanta Campus bookstore. If you have any questions, please contact the bookstore at am757@bncollege.com.

Yes, all guests attending the University Commencement Ceremony and the ECAS Diploma Ceremony will need to have a ticket.  

Tickets are administered through Tassel. Follow the instructions on the website to register your guests. Information about getting additional tickets will be emailed to all graduates, so check your email regularly.

Each graduate will receive two guest tickets for the University Commencement Ceremony. Information about additional tickets, if available, will be emailed to graduates.  

There is not a limit for guest tickets for the ECAS Diploma Ceremony.  

The University Commencement Ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m. and typically ends around 10:15 a.m. The ECAS Diploma Ceremony is immediately following, from 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  

Students: If you require accommodation in order to fully participate in Commencement activities, please submit the Request for Accommodation form 

Guests: If you are inquiring about accommodation for a guest, please contact emorycommencement@emory.edu.

Emory College works with commencement photography specialists GradImages to photograph graduates during Commencement events. GradImages will contact graduates directly in the weeks after Commencement.
