Honors Ceremony 2026

The Emory College Honors Program is sharing updates to the Honors Ceremony. This year we will celebrate all students in a single ceremony on Sunday, May 3 at 2 p.m. in the Emory Student Center’s Multipurpose Room, one week before commencement

Moving the ceremony up a week allows all Honors students and their faculty advisors to participate by avoiding the annual overlap with Mother’s Day, and it provides participants the freedom to enjoy the weekend before commencement as best fits their families’ needs. Additionally, holding the ceremony on campus will keep the event easily accessible to students and faculty, while the move to the Student Center provides a space with greater flexibility.

Rather than a commencement-like event, as in years past, we are refocusing the ceremony to specifically celebrate the mentor-mentee experience, highlighted by a student speaker, who will reflect on their research experience with their faculty thesis advisor. Given the narrower focus, this year’s ceremony is designed for faculty and students. We will encourage interested family and friends to view the livestream of the ceremony and join our Honors graduates at the Emory College Diploma Ceremony on May 12, where they will proudly celebrate their accomplishments while wearing their Honors medals.

A smaller ceremony in the Student Center will allow for a short reception of desserts and drinks following the individual recognition of students. Students and faculty will have time to chat and take photographs. A professional photographer will be on hand for candid photos. If you have any questions about the Honors Ceremony, feel free to reach out to the Honors Program at ec.honorsprogram@emory.edu
