The Emory chapter of Phi Eta Sigma recognizes Emory's outstanding first-year students through leadership, mentorship, and networking opportunities.

Membership into Phi Eta Sigma is by invitation only and based on academic performance during the first semester at Emory. Eligible students are notified via email early in the spring semester of their first year with further details and information.

The payment deadline for Spring 2024 eligible students has passed. Check back here for access to the Spring 2025 payment portal.

National Chapter

Phi Eta Sigma is a national honor society with chapters around the country. For more information on the history of Phi Eta Sigma and opportunities through the national headquarters, please click here.

Executive Board

Every year, the Emory chapter of Phi Eta Sigma invites applications for interested members to serve on the executive board. Members of the executive board develop programming for Phi Eta Sigma members, lead the annual induction ceremony, and collaborate with other Emory student organizations.

Requirements and Expectations

Students must attend and participate in Phi Eta Sigma organized programming to be eligible for the spring induction ceremony. Programming typically involves a Mentoring Night in partnership with Omicron Delta Kappa, a Scholarship Night, and a Service Night. Each event aims to facilitate connections among Phi Eta Sigma students and support both intellectual and professional development.

Continuing Excellence Award

Members of Phi Eta Sigma who later join either Omicron Delta Kappa and/or Phi Beta Kappa Honor Societies, are eligible to apply to the Continuing Excellence Award. The award of $500 is for one graduating senior who demonstrates academic and intellectual excellence, dedication to Emory, and showcases exemplary leadership. The recipient is recognized at the annual Honors Ceremony.
