Laura Boudon, PhD

Director of Education Abroad

Laura Boudon, Ph.D. is Assistant Dean and Director of Education Abroad and oversees the study abroad experience for undergraduate students in the College. She leads the Ed Abroad team and is responsible for 90 semester and academic year programs and 25 summer programs; she works closely with the College’s Education Abroad Committee and faculty who lead study abroad. In this role, Dean Boudon is a liaison with the Office of Global Strategy and Initiatives and collaborates with the Pathways Center. She also supports students and faculty in moments of crisis abroad.

Dean Boudon previously served as Director of Study Abroad at Georgia State University for four years and Florida International University for almost 5 years. In both roles, she led the study abroad teams supporting and advising students throughout the study abroad process, worked with faculty across campus to develop new study abroad programs, and responded to crises abroad. Dean Boudon has more than twenty years of experience in higher education, having also worked at Georgetown University, American University and the University of South Carolina.

In Fall 2023, Dean Boudon presented on global risk and safety with colleagues as part of the University System of Georgia’s Health and Safety Series. In 2020- 2021, she served on Diversity Abroad’ s Taskforce on Outreach and Marketing. In 2018, she led FIU’s work to host the Diversity Abroad conference in Miami and served as a member of the MSI Summit planning committee for Diversity Abroad from 2016-2018. She participated in Elon University’s Center for Engaged Learning Research Seminar on Global Learning and Study abroad from 2015 to 2017. Dean Boudon has led presentations at the Diversity Abroad conference and the NAFSA Region VII conference and co-authored several book chapters with colleagues.

Dean Boudon is a global citizen, having grown up in France and lived in Bogotá, Colombia, for a year. She did dissertation research in Côte d’Ivoire on the international political economy of coffee and a brief internship in Dakar, Senegal. She loves global travel, photography and food.
